What’s Going On!

The Greencards are a US based country/bluegrass band and they have recorded a couple of Johnny O'Briens songs for their release, "The Brick Album". The album has recently been reviewed in Time magazine and one of Johnny's songs, "Naked on the River" was the most downloaded track to date. Check out Johnny as he starts performing around town before heading overseas for some showcases later in the year.

Tommy McEwan has another Louis King show coming up at the Lomond Hotel this Saturday night the 16th from 9.30pm, these show are always loads of fun with great songs and performances. Along with Tom my old mate Mal Beveridge is on Bass.

Around the studio lately we have had some good wins with Greg, Al and Vanessa all starting to get some tunes together and seeing the benefit of their work and patience come for them, I love it when this happens. Dan is quietly (not so quietly now) sneeking up on Carl and Cam and looking forward to their next jam. Errol is out there star gazing still, we will get him back on planet earth soon. Rod, Graeme, Mark and Rob with their various projects have just completed a show at Gibson's Wine Bar in Hawthorn. Drop in and see Al anytime your looking for a quiet drink around Hawthorn, great atmosphere, friendly staff.

We have this years "Warren Hall Memorial Show" coming up again in September with the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society. Wazza was a good mate and great piano player who passed away 3 years ago, we like to honour him and his music every year whilst supporting the Blues Society and their "Youth in Blues" program which was special to Waz.  More on this along with the special guest line up when it gets closer.

Keep me up to date with anything you are doing and I will include it in future newsletters if time and space allow. Send me a note in comments if there is anything hapening over the next few weeks and I can put it up on the site.

Cheers, Ross (11/07/2011)
